It was a grand gala event. Being the youngest of a big family, She was the deary of the whole family. He, on the other side, also being the youngest of his family, was best-loved by all. It was their marriage day. They started a life together with utmost love and serenity. They got a surprisingly small packet as one of their marriage gifts. Good sign! It was the Lord Ganesha in a sitting posture and the idol stood about one inch tall with a quarter past half base. It then became the heart and soul of their pooja.

He was a Supervisor of a flour mill by then. His earnings those days were good enough for both of them and they lived a happy life. They were soon blessed with a baby. Life was not very easy those days for middle class people as it is now. The job demanded him to work for 14 hours a day managing two shifts almost. He had to manage the extra expenses of the kid as well. Appraisals weren’t done once in 6 months or an year as it happen in the modern companies today. He was already getting same pay check for years together. so, He had to find a cheap house to save some money for the kid. It caused him to drive his bicycle long untimely. Even though not classy, the trio were leading a sane life until one day. The day when they got to know that the kid had gotten primary complex.

He was apparently overwhelmed. The kid had already been consuming most of his pay check every month and the medical expenses added up too. Half of the days in a month, they even had to starve with chappathis with no rice whilst the kid was very happy with his biscuits, milk, apple and whatever. They had to sustain the frail kid and so decided not to have anymore kid. By then, the silver Ganesha was the only one who resided in the safe who also kept their spirits live. They had to spend everything to meet the medical outgos.

Days went on and the kid was on the verge of going to a school. They wanted their son to get a good education, at least. They knew that the desire alone wouldn’t help much in doing that. She started sewing clothes to make out the school fee. She had started her part of long walks by then. She had to pick up, feed, bring her son back. The couple never felt tired in driving so long or walking so long or working so long hoping that their son will be good in future, at least.

But then, the son, grew more as a brat. Charges about him from every possible direction. As the son grew, the badness grew fast and also his pneumonic problems. The charges were serious often. One day, the son came home with a thick wood with blood stains. An awful deed! The son had broken his fellow classmate’s head. They could do nothing but to complain to the God, crying and praying for him. The son was good at everything except where they wanted him to be. It wasn’t their fault. Was it called the fate. He was still overwhelmed since he had to gratify his son’s wishes. She had only time to set things right which their son had set wrong. They lived average but they did grow their son in a better way giving up many of their regards. They had to search doctors and specialists to get their son right and also they had to switch houses on and on to stop their son turning into a rogue from a brat. Doctors and doctors on the one hand, managing the brat on the other hand, All the time during this, it was the silver god who happened to be their only hold. Over the years, they, along with their silver god, managed to get their son hefty in all aspects. It gave them a relief actually after a drawn-out weary phase in their life. They left the son up to his wish about his life and now the son knows that well too.

Twenty five years have gone now since they got their silver god. The silver god is still with them safely. It is their silver jubilee wedding day today.
I love you ma. Love you pa. May God be with you always, showering happiness and joy forever!
